RunCloud has announced a 26% price increase for its subscription plans, affecting both its Pro and Business users. Starting your next renewal, the annual cost for the Pro plan will jump from $150 to $190, while the Business plan will rise from $450 to $490 per year. For monthly subscribers, the Pro plan will now cost $19 (up from $15), while the Business plan will remain unchanged at $45 per month.
The current Pro plan, which includes unlimited servers and API support will become the Professional Plan. However, the new Professional plan will no longer support unlimited servers or offer API access, instead limit users to 50 servers. For those who require API access, the only option will be to upgrade to the more expensive Business plan.
The pricing changes have raised concerns that RunCloud may be pressuring users into upgrading to the Business plan, particularly those who need API support.
While many users are upset about the reduced functionality of the Pro plan, RunCloud defended the changes by stating that the new pricing structure is designed to “minimize the effect on any specific user or segment of users based on their usage” while ensuring the company’s long-term sustainability.
RunCloud assured users that 95% of those on the current Pro plan will only experience a $40 increase annually. Additionally, they argue that users who rely on API functionality are likely operating at a level where the Business plan makes sense, as their needs exceed what the new Professional plan is designed to offer.
Runcloud also promised not to abruptly cut off extra servers or disable API connections. These services will continue for an extended period, giving users time to adjust to the changes.
