Ring has announced changes to its subscription plans, set to take effect in the U.S. on November 5, 2024.
Ring Subscription Plan Changes
Ring is rebranding its “Ring Protect” plans under a new name—”Ring Home” as follows;
- Ring Protect Basic will become Ring Home Basic
- Ring Protect Plus will be rebranded as Ring Home Standard
- Ring Protect Pro will now be Ring Home Standard with Alarm Professional Monitoring
- A new plan, Ring Home Premium, with advanced protection will be introduced.
Ring says the changes will not affect existing video settings or the core functionalities related to video storage and notifications. The most significant impact is on Ring Protect Pro subscribers.
Ring Protect Pro Changes
Ring Protect Pro, which currently costs $200 annually, will see several features removed under the new structure.
Starting November 5, the Ring Home Standard with Alarm Professional Monitoring plan which was initially Ring Protect Pro will no longer include features like 24/7 backup internet, eero Secure, and Ring Edge for local video storage unless you have a Ring Alarm Pro device. Additionally, subscribers who do not have a Ring Alarm or Ring Alarm Pro device will lose access to SOS emergency response.
Existing Subscribers
For existing Ring Protect Pro subscribers, Ring is offering a one-year trial of the new Ring Home Premium plan, which includes the features set to be removed in Protect Pro. After the trial period, you will need to upgrade to Ring Home Premium with the Alarm Professional Monitoring add-on to maintain the features
New Subscribers
For new customers who purchase a Ring Alarm or Ring Alarm Pro after November 5, 2024, Alarm Professional Monitoring will be available as an add-on for $10 per month or $100 per year on any eligible Ring Home Plan.
