YouTube Premium Plan Price Increased by 20-40% In Several Countries

YouTube has today sent an email to Premium Plan users notifying them of an upcoming subscription price increase. The new prices will take effect on each subscriber’s next billing date. These changes affect multiple countries.

In Ireland, the price of YouTube’s Family Premium plan has jumped from €17.99 to €25.99 per month. Solo account price has risen by €2 to €13.99 per month, while student accounts are seeing a €2 increase.

In Italy, users who pay for their subscription through Apple will see the cost rise from €22.99 to €33.99 per month. However, subscribers who sign up directly on the YouTube website will pay €25.99/month for the same plan.

In Belgium, the Family Premium plan now costs €25.99 per month, about a 40% increase from the previous price of €17.99. Similarly, Malaysia has seen a rise, with the monthly rate now set at MYR 20.90, and Singapore subscribers are facing a $10 hike, with the price increasing from $17 to $27. In Denmark, the Family Premium plan has gone from €24 to €34.70 per month.

It’s important to note that YouTube Premium prices vary by country, and subscribers who sign up directly through YouTube generally pay less than those using third-party payment options like Apple.

A quick check on online forums about what members think about the price increase reveals that some users are considering canceling subscriptions, while others are exploring using ad blockers or VPNs to sign up in countries such as India where prices are low.
