Quicken has announced a price increase for its budgeting tool, Simplifi, raising the monthly subscription cost by 50%. According to a notice sent to subscribers, the price will jump from the current $3 per month to $6. This hike also affects newer users, who have been paying $4 monthly; they will see their price increase to $6 as well.
Currently, Simplifi’s pricing page shows a promotional rate of $3.99 per month, which renews at the regular price of $5.99.
A closer look at Simplifi’s pricing history reveals a steady increase almost every year since 2020. Back then, the annual subscription was $36. By 2021, it had risen to $40, and in 2022, it jumped again to $49. 2023 saw no price hike, but in 2024, the cost has surged to $71.88 per year.
Quicken hasn’t provided an explanation for the price increase this year. However, it seems likely that they’re adjusting prices to cover the costs of new features, like the integration of Zillow and other third-party tools that come with additional costs to use their data.
