Canva has decided not to go ahead with its planned price increase for teams subscription. Canva had previously announced a price increase of about 300% for its Teams plan but now says that it will continue using the old prices after listening to user feedback.
In an email sent to subscribers on October 10, Canva explained, “We have carefully listened to your feedback regarding the recent pricing changes, and we are pleased to share some good news.” They went on to reassure users that they would maintain their old pricing, stating, “You’ll continue enjoying your current rate, with no action needed on your part.”
Canva had planned to raise the annual subscription cost for Teams from $150 per year for three users (or $15 per user per month) to $500 per year for three users. For larger teams, the cost was expected to jump to $100 per person annually if the number of users exceeded three. This new pricing was set to take effect in December 2024. Additionally, all Pro plan users with multiple accounts were slated to be automatically migrated to the Teams plan by July 2025.
The announcement of the price increase led to a wave of backlash on social media, with many creators indicating that they would cancel their subscriptions, seek out cheaper alternatives, or downgrade to the Pro plan.
Canva also promised transparency going forward, saying they will provide at least 60 days’ notice of any future price changes. While that might hint at possible price increases down the road, for now, the old prices apply.
More about the discontinuation of the planned price changes can be read in this Canva blog post.
