Shottr has announced that it will increase the Basic Tier plan price by 50%, starting October 14, 2024. In an update shared on their official Twitter handle, Shottr confirmed that the Basic Tier price will rise from $8 to $12 (a one-time payment).
Shottr offers a 30-day free trial (which users can continue using after the trial period, albeit with limited features), alongside two payment options: the Basic Tier and the Friends Club. While the Basic Tier has previously been available for a one-time payment of $8, the Friends Club plan costs $25 and includes additional perks.
The Basic Tier plan allows for commercial use and can be installed on up to five computers for a single user. Meanwhile, Friends Club members gain access to experimental features and receive prioritized support from the developer.
Unlike many web apps that face backlash after price hikes, Shottr’s users have taken to social media with positive feedback, commending the developer for his customer support.
Shottr has become a favorite among Mac users because its simplicity. In addition to being lightweight, it offers Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for text extraction, the ability to resize screenshots, a color picker, and tools for pixelating or removing objects.
